WHAT IS INDUSTRY 4.0?

The current digitalization of industry provides companies with a fantastic opportunity: To create products tailored to each individual customer under industrial conditions. Industry 4.0 and all its manifestations are for the first time enabling companies to be incredibly flexible and work very closely to the customer, while continuing to take advantage of industrial systems and structures.

RETURN TO INDIVIDUALITY

For the consumer, digitalization is ultimately synonymous with a return to individuality, which for a long time had taken a back seat to low-cost, mass-produced products.
In order to make this happen, internal company processes must be integrated as closely as possible with the information technology that is currently available. And it should be done consistently across the entire lifecycle of a product, taking into account the complete supplier chain. And precisely that is the challenge.

THE ROLE OF PRODUCT LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT (PLM)

Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) links the systems like CAD, CAE, CAM, MES etc. to the items that generate the most money for an industrial enterprise: its products.
Market research, product design, preliminary development, series development, testing, manufacturing, sales, after-sales services, and recycling: these are the stages through which a product passes during its lifetime and where it is constantly being changed. That makes PLM an essential discipline within digitalization.

THE TASKS ARE DIVERSE

Existing system breaks and data silos
Huge amounts of data
Consideration of individual skills and personal working environment
Flexibilization of production facilities
It is important to act as close as possible to the customer in all process steps
