We were incredibly lucky with the weather on September 15. The conditions were perfect for our company’s summer get-together– a hike up the Herzogstand mountain in Bavaria – and we set off in glorious sunshine for the two-hour walk up to the cabin where we would be staying. The atmosphere was friendly and convivial from the start, and at various stages of the journey – depending on our energy levels – there was a great deal of talking and singing. A hearty snack gave us a well-needed boost, and some colleagues just couldn’t resist the extra 45-minute walk to the summit.
With the weather quickly turning very cold at an altitude of 1,575 meters, we all retired to the cozy cabin, enjoyed good food and drink, played games, and had a good laugh together. It was a great opportunity to catch up with colleagues who we otherwise only talk to in a professional capacity.
In the evening, there was an enormous buffet with homemade Bavarian specialties. Festivities continued well into the night, with anecdotes about previous PITERION get-togethers and even some stargazing.
